Clear Hard Coat & AG

Clear Hard Coat

Clear Hard Coat enhances surface hardness by applying a highly transparent and extremely hard coating agent to the polarizing film surface. It protects the film surface from external shocks and dents.

AG (Anti-glare)

AG (anti-glare) treatment makes displays easy to view by reducing glare from lighting, etc.

This treatment uses fine particles of silica mixed into the hard coating solution to scatter light and reduce glare from the light source. Hard coating also enhances the film's resistance to scratching.

Anti-glare controls glare of the background using fine particles which scatter and reflect external light.

AR (Anti-Reflection)

AR (Anti-Reflection) is an additional function to reduce reflected light, which causes interference of light by coating multiple thin transparent films on the polarizing film surface. The use of coated films each with a different index of refraction and thinner by 1/4 or so than the visible light wavelength allows external light that has entered to be divided into light that is reflected on the film's surface and light that is transmitted and reflected from the inner side. These two types of light are out of phase by a half wavelength. This causes them to offset each other, thereby reducing the reflected light. As a result, it becomes possible to decrease reflection of light on the polarizing film surface.

Another feature of the AR function is the ability to increase transmittance while maintaining polarizing efficiency. With AR, it is possible to obtain a picture quality sharper than that of AG (Anti-Glare) thanks to less scattering of light. This in turn contributes to the improvement of contrast since the degradation in reproducibility of black (known in Japanese as “kuro-uki”) due to scattering of light is reduced. Therefore, use of AG and AR in well-balanced combination is advisable according to purpose.

LR (Low-Reflection)

The LR (Low-Reflection) function lowers reflectance by applying a low-reflection material on the polarizing film surface. Compared with AR, LR treatment is possible at a lower cost.

Light Leakage Control

It is possible to control the degradation in faithful reproducibility of black (known as "kuro-uki") by adding an advanced light leakage control function to polarizing films used in an LCD panel. With little degradation even when subjected to high temperature conditions for a long period of time, our light leakage control function delivers the highest possible performance and durability. You can choose this function from the SKN or SHC Series.

Wide View

The Wide View function widens viewing angle by keeping refraction constant, controlling leakage of light and enhancing contrast in order to enable black contrast to be seen clearly from any angle. This function is indispensable to support the ever-increasing size of LCD displays. The Wide View function can be made available in integration with the polarizing film thanks to our proprietary coating and lamination technologies. Surface treatments such as AG and AR are also possible, as well as combination with the light leakage control function.

Structure and Characteristics

  • Wide viewing angle is available by simply laminating the WV film to TFT-LCD.
  • For surface treatment of polarizing films, you can opt for HC, AG, or AR.
